Five Interesting Facts About Dreams Awake

1. The only full feature film that was filmed on Mount Shasta.

There have been a handful of small documentaries and short films filmed at Mount Shasta but ‘Dreams Awake’ is the only known full feature film shot on the mountain. Perhaps in the future that may change.

2. The first time Erin Gray and Tim O’Connor appeared together on film in 30 years.

Having both Erin Gray and Tim O’Connor involved in ‘Dreams Awake’ was a truly double pleasure in itself. However, not everyone realizes that ‘Dreams Awake’ wasn’t the first time these two wonderful actors worked together. Back in 1979 Erin played Colonel Wilma Dearing in the TV series ‘Buck Rogers in the 25th Century’ alongside Tim, who played Dr. Elias Huer.  Erin and Tim have continued their friendship over the years and watching them together onscreen one can definitely see the connection. For more details on their serendipitous story of reuniting for ‘Dreams Awake’ read ‘Erin & Tim Together Again’.

3. Erin Gray’s casting session was identical to a story about a missing journal that she experienced in her own life.

Years before, while browsing at a local flea market, Erin  discovered a book that had caught her attention. After reading through some of the pages she discovered that the book contained journals that had actually been written by her own grandmother; an event that she cherished deeply.  Some time later, during the casting session of ‘Dreams Awake’, Erin was asked to read the script which contained the scene where Hope discovers the hidden journals.  This connection resulted in her getting the part after an excellent performance.

4.  Erin Gray actually broke down near Mt. Shasta many years before.

About 10 years before ‘Dreams Awake’ was shot Erin and her husband were on a trip when their car broke down while passing through Mt Shasta (just like in the film) and they had to have their car repaired there.

5. The type of inner sound meditation depicted in the film is real.

Surat Shabd Yoga is a real meditation system and is one of the oldest, most secret, and some say the most advanced, spiritual traditions on the planet.  For more information on sound meditation check out InnerSonicKey.org.
